A Trip to Gaillimh

Hey guys,

Back again with another post this time thought I’d fill you in on my recent trip to Galway. If you know me at all you’ll know that Galway is my absolutely favourite place, in particular Salthill. I’ve been going every Summer since I was little and it’s my goal to live there at some stage of my life. There’s something about being near the sea that makes me so happy.

Just thought I’d give a quick run down on what my sister and I got up to over the few days. We travelled on the Wednesday down to Galway. We got the train from Heuston down. It was such a bargain. I got a student ticket and it was as cheap as chips. I’m so tempted to plan another trip to Galway already haha. Long enough train ride 2 and a half hours down but with Niall Horan’s album ‘Flicker’ on repeat the time flew by.

We stayed in the 4 star absolutely stunning ‘Salthill Hotel’ in Salthill village. It has been a firm favourite of mine for years. It overlooks the promenade. The views are most definitely it’s selling point but the staff are so lovely and the food is even nicer. I honestly can’t fault them and I can be a harsh critic at times haha. I had the thai curry and my God was it good you should definitely give it a shout if you’re about Salthill some day even just for a cup of tea and something sweet the views will blow you away trust me.  I’ve inserted a photo below to show you! This was taken on a day that was quite overcast so I’m sure you can imagine what it’s like on a sunny day – out of this world.

Okay, so day 2 and we walked into Salthill early that morning as it’s only about a 30 min walk. Emma being Emma didn’t dress for the rain as it had been so sunny when we were leaving the hotel. A saying I try live by is ‘Dress like you’re going somewhere important or somewhere where you might meet the love of your life’ hahaha. Basically just dress up so that’s what I did. Little did I know that 10 minutes  into the walk would it start lashing rain and I would end up looking like a drowned rat but hey ho I’ll live and learn.

We spent the day in the city and went to the fabulous Bramwell’s for lunch.( A must if you’re visiting Galway city) Later that night after making use of the hotel gym and pool in a desperate attempt to work off the amount of food I had eaten we went out for a walk along the promenade and dropped into the new LANA restaurant in Salthill and oh my God we were not disappointed with the food. It’s basically a sit down noodle bar serving the most amazing food in takeaway noodle boxes, a bit of a gimic I suppose but definitely was a new experience for me and I loved every minute. I even give the chopsticks a go but more practice needed to say the least haha.

I first heard about LANA through the Makeup Artist Elainelove_makeup. She is always raving about her local LANA and with good reason. Such a genuine, talented girl and trust her opinions so much. Highly recommend checking out LANA and Elaine.

Okay, so if you’ve ever been to Galway you will have heard of the infamous O’Connor’s pub in Salthill –  a must if you’re looking for a quiet drink and a night of unreal music. We headed into the City after O’Connor’s and headed into the Front Door pub a good choice if you find the usual pubs too quiet but the nightclubs too rowdy it’s definitely a good all rounder.

Okay, so morning before we’re due to go home obviously we need to get another feed cause you couldn’t be going home on an empty stomach haha any excuse so we headed to the Coco Café in Salthill. My first time trying it and safe to say I will definitely be returning. I went with the fruit and yoghurt granola, tea and of course I had to try the pancakes it would have been rude not to wouldn’t it? So reasonably priced and overlooking the prom a match made in heaven. Worth a shout if you’re looking for a nice breakfast but the lunch options sounded amazing aswell.

Okay, think I’ll leave it here because I could rant and rave about Galway and Salthill forever. Hope you’ve enjoyed this post and got some inspo for some new places to try.

Thanks for reading.

Love,

Emma x
