Back for more…

Hey guys,

Emma here. I’ve been planning getting back into posting on this more often but between one thing and another I haven’t. Fully aware that it’s March and that New year’s resolutions are generally gone out the window by this stage but this was mine so it’s about time I got moving hahaha. OK, I started this blog around this time last year just for myself really to throw out ideas and to rant to myself and between college, work and just life in general I put it on the back burner for nearly a year wouldn’t recommend haha!

Suppose I’ll fill you in on what I’ve been up to, well I’m currently in my final year of college in Maynooth University and it’s true what everyone tells you… final year is the year from hell. Work wise it’s such a big jump from last year and it is very hard trying to keep on top of it all but only 6 weeks to go so home stretch now which is exciting but incredibly scary. Atm, I’m constantly stuck between put your head down and work hard for your last few weeks in college then the other part of me is telling me to go out every night of the week and make the most of it all. It’s a vicious circle hahaha. Me being me has gotten such an urge to go out every week in final year of all years. Most definitely picked the wrong year to decide I wanted to be more sociable but hey ho there’s worse complaints I could have.

Around this time last year when I first started the blog, I was mid planning a J1 and I think I’ll do a blog post on it in the next few days talking about my experience and any advice I have. It was one of the best experiences of my life to date. Would 100% recommend to anyone that’s thinking of doing one!

That’s all for now. Stay tuned!

Love,

A Trip to Gaillimh

Hey guys,

Back again with another post this time thought I’d fill you in on my recent trip to Galway. If you know me at all you’ll know that Galway is my absolutely favourite place, in particular Salthill. I’ve been going every Summer since I was little and it’s my goal to live there at some stage of my life. There’s something about being near the sea that makes me so happy.

Just thought I’d give a quick run down on what my sister and I got up to over the few days. We travelled on the Wednesday down to Galway. We got the train from Heuston down. It was such a bargain. I got a student ticket and it was as cheap as chips. I’m so tempted to plan another trip to Galway already haha. Long enough train ride 2 and a half hours down but with Niall Horan’s album ‘Flicker’ on repeat the time flew by.

We stayed in the 4 star absolutely stunning ‘Salthill Hotel’ in Salthill village. It has been a firm favourite of mine for years. It overlooks the promenade. The views are most definitely it’s selling point but the staff are so lovely and the food is even nicer. I honestly can’t fault them and I can be a harsh critic at times haha. I had the thai curry and my God was it good you should definitely give it a shout if you’re about Salthill some day even just for a cup of tea and something sweet the views will blow you away trust me.  I’ve inserted a photo below to show you! This was taken on a day that was quite overcast so I’m sure you can imagine what it’s like on a sunny day – out of this world.

Okay, so day 2 and we walked into Salthill early that morning as it’s only about a 30 min walk. Emma being Emma didn’t dress for the rain as it had been so sunny when we were leaving the hotel. A saying I try live by is ‘Dress like you’re going somewhere important or somewhere where you might meet the love of your life’ hahaha. Basically just dress up so that’s what I did. Little did I know that 10 minutes  into the walk would it start lashing rain and I would end up looking like a drowned rat but hey ho I’ll live and learn.

We spent the day in the city and went to the fabulous Bramwell’s for lunch.( A must if you’re visiting Galway city) Later that night after making use of the hotel gym and pool in a desperate attempt to work off the amount of food I had eaten we went out for a walk along the promenade and dropped into the new LANA restaurant in Salthill and oh my God we were not disappointed with the food. It’s basically a sit down noodle bar serving the most amazing food in takeaway noodle boxes, a bit of a gimic I suppose but definitely was a new experience for me and I loved every minute. I even give the chopsticks a go but more practice needed to say the least haha.

I first heard about LANA through the Makeup Artist Elainelove_makeup. She is always raving about her local LANA and with good reason. Such a genuine, talented girl and trust her opinions so much. Highly recommend checking out LANA and Elaine.

Okay, so if you’ve ever been to Galway you will have heard of the infamous O’Connor’s pub in Salthill –  a must if you’re looking for a quiet drink and a night of unreal music. We headed into the City after O’Connor’s and headed into the Front Door pub a good choice if you find the usual pubs too quiet but the nightclubs too rowdy it’s definitely a good all rounder.

Okay, so morning before we’re due to go home obviously we need to get another feed cause you couldn’t be going home on an empty stomach haha any excuse so we headed to the Coco Café in Salthill. My first time trying it and safe to say I will definitely be returning. I went with the fruit and yoghurt granola, tea and of course I had to try the pancakes it would have been rude not to wouldn’t it? So reasonably priced and overlooking the prom a match made in heaven. Worth a shout if you’re looking for a nice breakfast but the lunch options sounded amazing aswell.

Okay, think I’ll leave it here because I could rant and rave about Galway and Salthill forever. Hope you’ve enjoyed this post and got some inspo for some new places to try.

Thanks for reading.

Love,

Emma x

Get to know me tag

pexels-photo-775779.jpeg

Hey guys,

So for my first post I decided to be oh so original and do a ‘Get to know me tag’. I know, I know every blogger under the sun does this as their first post but it’s a nice lil ice breaker if you can call it that hahaha so here goes. Here is 25 questions and answers about me. I hope you enjoy this if you’re anything like me you will because I’m so nosy and love finding out all them weird little details about people hahaha. Enjoy x

1.What is your middle name?

My middle name is Mary after my grandmother. My full name is Emma Mary Grace Maguire. Grace is my confirmation name and I guess you’re expecting some form of sentimental  meaning behind it too but nope I just loved the name so went with it haha.

2. Favourite subject at school?

This is a hard one for me because as much as I didn’t like school at the time (I’d give anything to go back now.. college ain’t all it cracked up to be haha) I did have a few different favourite subjects. I loved Irish, so much so that I’m studying it in college now. I loved French too as I had an amazing teacher she definitely made me love it. I was good with languages in general, maths and biology not so much but that’s a story for another day. I also loved Home economics not so much the theory side but more so the practical side I loved the cooking but I was so so bad at the sewing. Too much patience required for sewing and I wouldn’t have great patience to say the least haha.

3. All time favourite drink?

TEA, TEA, TEA… no explanation required.

4. Favourite song at the minute?

This is a tricky one I listen to everything from Picture This, George Ezra, Niall Horan to country music like Lisa McHugh, Derek Ryan and so on.( Sorry not sorry) However, I would have to say my fave song at the minute is George Ezra ‘Paradise’ I have it on repeat 24/7 lately so I think that says it all.

5. Favourite Food?

This is like asking a mother to pick between their children haha not something that should be asked. If I had to make a choice though it would have to be Nandos butterfly chicken in pitta with garlic bread and peri salted chips.. 100% would be my last meal on death row hahaha.

6. Last thing you bought?

The Flormar ‘Perfect Coverage’ foundation. (Stay tuned for a first impressions up soon)

7. Favourite Book?

Hate to admit it but I’m not really much of a reader. Definitely want to get into it again in  future.

8. Favourite colour?

Probably like a rosey pink or mustard yellow both so so nice with a tan.

9. Any pets?

I have 2 dogs, a cat and a horse… and a few cows( Would you call them pets hahah?)

10. Favourite perfume?

Either the blue ghost perfume or Pure orchid by Halle Berry.

11. Favourite holiday?

Family holiday: Probably Disneyland for obvious reasons

Gals holiday: Liverpool for our Leaving Cert holiday( One of the loosest holidays of my life haha – I’ve actually been twice let me know if you’d like a post on ‘Things to see and do in Liverpool’. I could write a book on it it’s such a cool city.

12. Married?

Absolutely not. I’m only 20 I  can barely mind myself never mind someone else too haha.

13. Have you been out of the country? How many times?

I’ve lost count, being honest. I’ve been to Liverpool, Manchester, Paris, and a few different parts of Spain.

14. Speak another language?

Speak fluent English. Speak Irish but still working on it I plan to be fluent one day. Can speak French but very limited haven’t spoken it since school. Would love to take up another language, any recommendations??

15. How many siblings?

I’ve an older sister and a younger brother. (Middle Child Syndrome is real haha)

16. Favourite shop?

I’ll always be a Penneys hun like every other Irish girl but I’ve recently rediscovered  Zara and to say I’m obsessed would be an understatement.

17. Favourite restaurant?

Nandos or anything Italian.

18. Last time I cried?

Not much of a crier can’t honestly remember.

19. Favourite blog?

Rachelhollyblog (Rachel Eustace)

FacesbyGrace23 (Grace Mongey)

Rosie Connolly

I could go on and on but I’ll leave it for another post? Could maybe do my top 10 bloggers/influencers? Let me know if you’d be interested in that.

20. Favourite Movies?

Any rom com really. Adore Safehaven, The Longest Ride and Me before you. They’re probably my top 3 but I’d honestly watch paint drying I’m easily amused hahaha.

21. Fave TV shows?

I’m not a big TV person I don’t get a chance as I live away from home for college. That said I love the soaps like Emmerdale, Coronation Street, EastEnders and Neighbours. I find if I miss them I can catch up easy enough so I watch them when I’ve a free hour or two.

22. PC or Mac?

Never used a Mac so I’d have to say PC.

23. What phone do you have?

IPhone 6s and I adore it. Not about that Samsung life at all haha.

24. How tall are you?

I’m so so small like the height that gets pointed out to you on an everyday basis like…. ‘You’re very small aren’t you’ ‘God do you think? I haven’t noticed in the last 20 years myself’ an example of one of the billions of conversations I’ve had regarding my height hahaha. Ahh I don’t mind ‘ good things come in small packages’ and all that haha.

25. Can you cook?

I can and I love cooking when I’ve the time. I actually wanted to be a chef when I was little until it dawned on me that I’d probably end up obese because I’ve no self control when it comes to food haha.

Hope you enjoyed this chatty get to know me tag. I tag anyone and everyone to do it it’s such a cool idea.

Thanks for stopping by!

Love,

Emma x
